Last issue we mainly introduced the bulk density of lightweight insulating bricks. In this issue we will introduce the temperature of lightweight insulating bricks.
(4)Temperature
The thermal conductivity of lightweight insulating bricks is in linear relation with temperature, ie the thermal conductivity of lightweight insulating bricks increases with increasing temperature. However, the thermal conductivity of lightweight insulating bricks doesn’t increase so much as dense refractory material when temperature rises. This is because it is mainly solid-phase heat transfer in dense refractory material. When temperature rises the thermal motion of the molecules in refractory material is increased and the thermal conductivity is increased. Structure of lightweight insulating bricks is mainly gas phase (65 to 78%). When the temperature rises, the change of thermal conductivity of gas phase is always less than the solid phase.
In this issue, we mainly introduced the temperature of light weight insulating bricks. Hope this can bring help to furnace builders.
