Selection scheme of refractory insulation bricks for blast furnace

As a refractory person, our goal is to let the products give full play to the kiln’s advantages, and do our best to achieve the goal of high temperature and longevity in the kiln. Reasonable selection of refractory materials for masonry kilns is the primary factor that determines the life of the kiln. In the selection of refractory materials for blast furnace, the first consideration is the temperature and the size of the hot blast stove. In addition, the price of refractory bricks and insulating bricks should also be considered. According to design experience, we believe that refractory bricks and insulation bricks for blast furnace can be selected according to the following scheme.
1.Large-scale blast furnace (diameter ≥8m, wind temperature ≥1 200℃): Silica bricks are used for the vault, the upper part of the combustion chamber, the upper part of the regenerator and the upper part of the checker brick; in the vault part and the combustion chamber next to the silica brick Mullite bricks are used in the middle (high temperature area); andalusite bricks or sillimanite bricks are used in the middle and high temperature areas of the regenerator next to the silica bricks and checker bricks, and the lower area of the combustion chamber above the top surface of the burner; Andalusite bricks or sillimanite bricks should be used for the 15-layer checker bricks above the grate; clay bricks should be used in the low temperature area with a temperature lower than 1000 C.
2. Large-scale blast furnace (diameter ≥ 8m, wind temperature 1150 ℃ vault, upper part of combustion chamber, upper part of regenerator and upper part of checker brick use silica brick. In the vault part next to silica brick, middle part of combustion chamber, heat storage Andalusite bricks or sillimanite bricks should be used for the middle and high temperature areas of the chamber and checker bricks and the lower part of the combustion chamber above the top surface of the burner; andalusite bricks or sillimanite bricks should also be used for the 15-layer checker bricks above the grate; Clay bricks for low temperature areas below 1000 ℃
Next issue we will continue to introduce the selection of refractory insulation bricks for blast furnace, so stay tuned.
