Lightweight refractory castables are composed of refractory lightweight aggregates, powders, binders and additives. It has high porosity, low thermal conductivity, a certain degree of fire resistance and good thermal insulation. It can save energy when being used in industrial kilns and thermal equipment (20~80% heat loss can be reduced compared with general refractory materials) , improve the operation rate of the kiln, and reduce the weight of the equipment. The use of integral casting or prefabricated parts of refractory castable can also make installation more convenient.
The lightweight refractory castables used in the lining of cement kilns are mostly lightweight mullite castables. The main parts of the castables used in industrial kilns are: furnace insulation lining; chimney and pipe insulation lining, such as hot air pipe lining, flue lining heat insulation, etc.; parts of melting furnaces and melt container equipment that do not touch the melt; in cement kilns, they are mostly used as cement kiln lining insulation.
Lightweight mullite castables have the following characteristics: ①It is suitable for working linings or thermal insulation linings of various industrial kilns, realizing high temperature energy saving; ②High strength, light weight, can be used as industrial kiln roof, can reduce structural weight of walls, doors and other parts of kilns by more than 30% compared with ordinary low-cement castables, which eliminates hidden dangers such as structural broken bricks and collapse; ③Using high-quality porous mullite as aggregate, combined with a variety of micro-powders and dispersants, the thermal conductivity is low, and the heat insulation performance is good. Compared with ordinary castables, it can reduce the heat loss of the kiln by 25% to 35% and save fuel by about 10%; ④Convenient for construction. It can be cast as a whole on site, and also can be made into prefabricated parts of various shapes.
